Last update for a fat August.

-
Leading off with a new banger from one of my favorites that's keeping it fresh in the tech-house scene, Cloonee with "MOFO". He's been teasing this one in DJ sets for a minute now, and for good reason: it's absolutely filthy. Out via his own imprint Hellbent.

-
A lot of really great tracks this week that I'd put into the indie-dance / alt-electronic genre. Rising Foreign Family signing NASAYA dropped "RUMMELSBURG" and it's a rich sonic experience that flexes the producer's skills ahead of joining ODESZA on their Last Goodbye Tour. Mafro's "Alright" is a super easy listening track, as is Crooked Colours "Holiday" and "you've changed your mind" from Duskus.

-
Another big tune comes from I. JORDAN on "Hey Baby", an aggressive, fast-paced, and swirling jaunt. In a similar lane, I'm also really feeling "Buzzkill" from emerging artist Take Van. "Buffalo Skank" by Frankel & Harper is out via Time Is Now and is a breaky number that continues to flex the imprint's ability to churn out quality music.

-
In the house lane, Tchami is back with a fresh remix of Shiba San's "I Wanna". Majestic dropped a somewhat unexpected record via Toolroom that is wrapped in Latin flare. Ferreck Dawn can't miss, and "Life" keeps his streak of delivering dance floor-ready tunes alive. A new edit from DRAMA brings a fun, beach-appropriate track just in time for the weekend.

-
On the deeper side of things, new tunes from Ae:ther, WhoMadeWho & Rampa, Oliver Koletzki, and a new Jamie XX remix all keep things dark and ominous.

-
I also wanted to highlight a section of just straight-up chill tracks to kick back to as the end of summer inches closer. Check out new ones from Satin Jackets, Nu Aspect, PLÜM, Willo, and Solah. What I like about this little grouping is that while some tracks are a bit faster-paced, they still have a chilled element that make for easy listening.
August 19, 2022
Big update for August incoming. This drop features tunes from the first ~3 weeks of the month.

I had to kick it off with a new one from a favorite Four Tet alias, the always easy to spell ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•Ì›)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ. The legend Kieran Hebden is actively releasing across this alias, KH, and Four Tet (look out for his Ellie Goulding remix in this playlist) at the same time, and I'm here for it.

-
Another fun alias project that I highlight at the top of this playlist comes from Supershy, i.e. Tom Misch's club alter ego. "Take My Time" is a groovy four-on-the-floor jam inspired by classic house records with an infectious bass line.

-
Brooklyn native bad tuner dropped a fun record with classic UK house sensibilities and a nice topline by way of Sebastian Adé on "loverboi".

-
I'd be remiss not to call out the latest effort from rising superstar Fred again..., "Turn On The Lights again.." who enlists SHM for his latest club-ready banger. To say there is nothing slowing down Fred is an understatement. He's arguably one of the hottest tickets in (any) town, and with his next album Actual Life 3 on the horizon, I imagine he will be catapulted into the very upper echelons of electronic music.

-
Rufus's long-awaited Surrender remix pack dropped this month, and as expected it's filled with an insane list of remixers. I've included a couple of cuts from the extensive pack, but it's really a who's who of talent with remixes from Dom Dolla, Innellea, Solomun, Adriatique, and others.

-
One of my favorite acts around, Gilligan Moss, dropped their first original single of the year in the form of "The Destroyer", and while it's a bit of a sonic departure from their self-titled LP, it's a happy and easy listening tune.

-
It's a month of alias projects! Daphni, the alias of Caribou frontman Dan Snaith, dropped his four-track EP Mania which sonically rings very true to its title. Featuring swirling synth lines, disjointed and frenetic vocal riffs, and driving basslines, this one isn't necessarily for the casual electronic fan, and yet has such beautiful qualities it can easily draw you in.

-
In the tech-house lane, there is some new fire (per usual these days...). Some stand-out tracks that are sure to rip up the dancefloor come from Mau P with "Drugs From Amsterdam" out via Repopulate Mars, John Summit's latest record "What A Life" out on his own imprint Off The Grid, Saffron Stone's "There's Nothing Else", "Tengo ganas de ti" from HUGEL & Damien N-Drix, and Chapter & Verse's "Look In My Eyes" that earned him the cover of Spotify's home for tech-house, Operator.

-
On the more experimental side of the dance spectrum, there are some really quality tracks out this month from the likes of Romare, Otus & Lawrence Hart, Red Axes, and boys be kko.
